Letter written at New York to Morgan Lewis. "The necessity of completing with the utmost expedition the contracts which you may have authorized to be made under the 'act for procuring ordinance and ammunition' passed the 7th day of April 1806 induces me to apply to you for the necessary information to enable me to proceed with what is unfinished."

Daniel D. Tompkins (June 21, 1774 – June 11, 1825) was an American politician. He was the fourth governor of New York from 1807 to 1817, and the sixth vice president of the United States from 1817 to 1825. Born in Scarsdale, New York, Tompkins practiced law in New York City after graduating from Columbia College.
